A year ago I build my HTPC using an ATI AIW 8500DV card DVI-to- HS 10 projector and an 29inch 4:3 Philips TV via S video installing the latest (that time) 3.2 catalyst drivers. A few months later new catalyst drivers were announced with better clone overlay support. But this according to the threads existing here seemed to be canceled from driver to driver version!!! 3.4 seemed to be the best 3.5 3.6 canceled some functions and then 3.7 seemed to work again. So my question as I intend to upgrade my old catalyst 3.2 drivers is which version to use?
My only demand is the best available clone overlay support! 3.2 drivers fail to support TV in the same for all clone overlay mode!!! MMC 8.5 fails to initialize TV player... The clone mode works only in theater mode and even then the picture quality is bad. I can see in my TV especially in solid white areas 'grainy clouds' as if the overlay is not working properly there!!So:
a. Is there any version that supports Tv in both monitors in the same for all clone overlay mode??
b. If there isn't which is the next best version?
c. Should I go all the way up to cat 4.4 or 4.5 for my old 8500AIW DV? Is there any HTPC improvement in this drivers?
