I have a laptop with an HDMI port (Dell Inspiron 1525 with integrated Intel graphics card). I want to buy a 32" LCD HDTV mostly as a monitor but I've read that some tv's do not do this as well as others. I have been searching everywhere but I haven't been able to find out much information on this.

Are certain brands or tv's more compatible than others when being used as a computer monitor? If so, which brands or models the best? I am on a budget so I've been mostly looking at cheaper 720p models. Some of them are store brand but I am also willing to spend a little more for a name brand if it will make a big difference with compatibility and general image quality.

My second question is about the difference between 720p and 1080p. I've heard that 1080p is best when being used for a computer screen but is this really a big issue for a 32"? I would much rather spend my extra money on getting a quality 720p than spend it getting a cheaper quality 1080p.

Right now I am looking at Samsung (720p), Insignia (no name 720p), Insignia (no name 1080p), Dynex (no name 720p), Toshiba (720p), Sony (720p). These are the only TV's i have found in my price range and that are available in stores near me.

Thanks in advance for any replies
