Please help, not sure what to get. Budget $1k or less. Powering a 5.1 system, and may want to go to 7.1 or 7.2, likely not going to do the Atmos set-up. Speakers are NHT1.5's currently for L/R and NHT center. Getting a Sammy 75" 8550, so need a 4k receiver. Onkyo seems to be the only one offering 2.2 hdmi (not sure how important that is) But Onkyo seems to have some reliability issues, but was strongly considering the Onkyo 838 very reasonable on Accessories 4 less. Heard good things about Yamaha but no 2.2 and not sure what would be comparable to the 838 in their line. Want multizone and plenty of power. Just not sure which way to go. Really open as to which way to go - Onkyo, Yamaha, Marantz, Denon etc. Thanks for the help.

It sounds like you have a firm grip on the situation. You can just run a cable direct to the TV for video for an actual 2.2 connection whenever those UHD blurays come out.

You might be better off spending your money on a better 65" non-4k plasma set. The LCD's aren't so great.

No doubt Plasma would have been nice. I have a 50" NEC monitor which has been great. But alas, they are all gone and really nothing available in the size I want 70" plus.
