can i make the connection only using coaxial cable? if yes how would i do it? since there is two wing nuts. do i expose the copper wire from the rg6 and connect to the nut?

No, you can't hook up the coax directly to the antenna. It has a different impedance, 75 ohms, so there will be a mismatch. That's what the transformer is for, to convert the 300 ohm impedance to 75 ohms.


Years ago, people used 300 ohm twin lead instead of coax, and hooked that directly to the antenna, but RG6 is far superior now.


Also some of the newer antennas today have a transformer built in to the antenna so all you need to hook up is the coax into the f-fitting.
