Hi everyone. I currently own a Mitsubishi CRT Rear Projection (WS 65713) and it seems to be on it's last legs. I've been thinking about a new TV for a while, but I have become quite accustomed to the 65" screen. I was originally thinking of replacing it with another Mitsubishi, but I have been less than impressed with the picture quality with the recent models.

Here's my dilemma - I would very much like to stay at the 65+ screen size, but I am also leaning towards Plasma. Would a 60" be that much smaller than a 65" (so far, I think yes, judging from showroom comparisons)? Do I have any good 65" options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't believe there are much options for 65" in the market. I believe you have 1 model from Sharp that is LCD and 1 from Panasonic that is plasma without paying a truckload of cash. Wait to see what CES has to offer if these don't satisfy what you want.

I'd be willing to bet you'll easily notice and miss those five inches jumping down especially since you may be gaining viewing distance also with a flat panel.

Sharp and Panasonic are the only flat panel games in that size and yes during the next two days we'll hear the news for 2009. I'm anti-plasma having been an unhappy owner of a Panny in a sunny room so my choice is the Sharp next generation or when the LED becomes more affordable by 50%.

Sharp finishes it's new plant in the next month or two and they may actually announce a larger size since the motherglass for cuts will be 60% larger than any previous generation LCD or they may just get more 65" cuts. I'm not a fan of the budget D64 series except for it's low price though so I'm waiting to see the next gen SE94 replacement that should be announced at CES either today or tomorrow.

Pioneer should be ashamed for not offering anything larger than 60-inches!

But even 65" owners have to admit that the 60" Kuros are damn tempting...

If you have not already checked out this thread you may decide consider refurbishing it versus replacing it.
