HELP! - Do i need a 1.78:1 or 1.85:1

I have a sony wht10 on order and im thinking of getting the dalite dual mask screen but its available as letterbox or hdtv, 16x9 is 1.78? but is the sony 1.85? are most dvds are 1.85?

on dalites site they quote the letterbox as 92.4" x 50" is this right? i thought it was 92" x 50" ...im sooo confused http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Most DVDs should be 1.85, as are movies, but unfortunately, they are cropped often to 1.77 by the same idiots who crop HD 2.35 movies to 1.77. "They" think that black bars are evil, and "they" crop every time they can. So, go for 1.77, or you will be constantly annoyed.

I don't know what they "should" be, but the vast majority of DVD's I rent are 2.35:1. A year or two ago many had a full screen (4:3) option, but few do now.
