ok, so my friend decided to let my manual Da-Lite 92" screen go up and let it go by itself. It then banged and scraped all the way up. It now has numerous scratches and a few scrapes where the finish is down to the black behind. One scape is about 1/2" x 1" and most others are little 1/4" spots with a few scratches.

I really can't afford to buy a new screen right now. And I'm too nice to ask my friend to pay for it. He didn't really mean to do it anyway.

Is there a paint/sanding combo I could use to help it?

Other suggestions?

Thanks everyone......

take some tape, stick it on one of the spots. see if it pulls off some of the scrape. perhaps it is paint off of the case.

if not, your probably screwed.

So your not suppose to let it go? In my experience you need to let it go, or it wont go up, it seems to lock into place.

a regular manual, NO... now, there are special manuals called CSR controlled screen return (or something like that) . that have the "feature" of not letting the screen return up wildly.

I mean i dont let mine go, but alot of times i find mine not even budging cause im pulling back to much and i have to really ease up on it and give up quite a bit of control so it will go up. My installer is putting mine into an electric case anyway, he did it for my 16:9 but my custom screen ii currently have as a pulldown i notice i feel like i have to give up to much control to let it up.
