Don--

Sorry to hear about your bout with kidney stones. Had one myself in May, and had surgery also. Not fun at all. (My wife had a baby shortly after the surgery, and we've been kidding about who had a more difficult labor for months).

For a room that is 16' wide X 23' long (10 foot ceilings throughout), how large a screen would you use for one of the new DLPs (Sharp 9000, Seleco HT300)?

Thanks in advance--

Dear Drew,

We are waiting to get Sharp 9000 in our facility

so we can make the proper measurements. This also holds for the Sim 300. We may have a Sharp here at the end of next week .But I need to add that the Sharp rep warned us that the factory demo units are in high demand right now and he would not make promise that he might not be able to keep.

Drew...Before making recommendations, I really want to evaluate these units so that we can direct Home Theater users to best screen solutions.

Please stay tuned.

Regards,

Don

Thanks, Don. Appreciate the prompt reply.

By the way, if you remember, please take a look at the lambert issue with the Sharp Z9000. I only get 17 lamberts at 800 lumens on a 123" Greyhawk. That seems low to watch with any ambient light. Maybe the Studiotek would be better, at least from a brightness perspective. Of course, that would have tradeoffs.

Drew,

Good News. Sharp called and informed me that I should have a 9000 on my door step this next Monday or Tuesday.

In addition to making light measurements I would like to take it home for an evening so I can view it serval hours at a time. BTW... I am one of those persons who has not had a big problem with DLP rainbow artifacts so I will not be able to

contribute an opinion on the advantages of higher speed color wheels.

Great to hear. Nice to have some pull, huh?

That would be great. I'm very curious about the lamberts issue, and whether you think it will be bright enough on a Greyhawk, or would be better on a Studiotek 130 or something else (especially if I want to watch football with the lights on some of the time). Just as a reminder, my room is 16 W x 23 L x 10 H, and my original question(s) were: (1) what size would you recommend (your phone people recommended 123", but that seems big, so I want to hear it from you); and (2) what screen.

Not that concerned about the rainbow effect. I saw it on the old projectors, but couldn't see it at all when I saw the Sharp, and it seems like only a few people on the forum can now.

Thanks!
