I have had a 61" Sony HS10 rear-projection CRT for aboutr five years. It has gotten heavy use. The picture used to be excellent...crisp, clear and lots of nice deep blacks, etc. I have always calibrated it with Avia. Over the last six months, I've noticed that no matter how I tweak the settings, the picture just seems flat...seems like it has no contrast, and blacks just look kinda gray and lifeless. I have tried just about every contrast and brightness combination I can...and still get a lifeless picture. Anyone have any ideas why? Are the guns just getting worn out? Do I need to have it serviced?
Also, I've noticed that every now and then, I get big black streaks on th picture running sideways from any black areas, and the picture looks horrible. If I jiggle the inputs (especially the antenna) input on the TV, it will usually clear up. I use good quality cables...and I have to really push/pull/twist the connection...so I know it is in the TV part...not my cables, etc. Any thoughts on this? This TV is only 5 years old...and the picture looks terrible!! PS: This is not the HS10 LCD projector...this is a 61" rear projection CRT unit.
Thanks for any help or advice. I'm desperate!!!
