I would say it may be a problem with the quality of cable on your 35'. Do you know what the cable is rated for? You could also try taking your receiver out of the mix and running the 35' cable directly from your source to the PJ as a test.

Dayton Audio Signature HDMI video cables are ATC certified for the purest picture (supports up to 1080p) and digital audio signals. The exclusive RF-Blok cuts out unwanted RF interference. Unlike other HDMI cables, Dayton cables use larger, shielded twisted pair wires (24 AWG), gold plated connectors, a solid metal termination housing and a braided cable sleeve for cable quality that is second to none. For a secure cable connection

24 AWG is not large, I don't know what you paid for yours but the cables in the link below are 22AWG. So much for Dayton's claim that other cables use smaller wire than 24. Reading the rest of their spiel, there is nothing special in their cables. It 's advertising hype.

And the fact that it worked at 6' just reinforces what we have been saying in this forum time and again, HDMI can be finicky over 12'. The quality of the cable will help in most normal cases. Occasionally, and HDMI extender is required, usually in situations where the run is extra long or the source equipment is putting out a weak signal.

Try the 35ft cable directly from the PS3 to the projector!

Wire gauge is practically irrelevant in this application.
