One option is to take a breath and calm down long enough to fully explain your problem so that you can get helpful responses.

But there are other options, no doubt.

The original prewire was supposed to be cat5 (to use HDMI converter) should we upgrade the TV, component and left and right stereo....

Due to high-end construction, the wires cannot be reran or pulled for additional wire. I had the electrician, security installer...and they all concurred that it would cost $$$$$$ to run additional wire.

I know the easiest solution is to upgrade the TV. However, this specific TV was given to me and it has a strong sentimental value. This is why it goes into my race garage.

With (4) cat5, what are my option to get video and sound signals from the cable box to the tv?

Thanks so much

Maybe it's just me but I still don't understand the whole problem. My guess is that you have 4 cat5 cables between your cable box location and TV location. The TV does not have hdmi input.

I believe there are component to cat5 baluns (similar to the hdmi to cat5).

Maybe it's just ME, but wouldn't "high-end constuction" make it EASIER to run wires if exisitng wires were there? Seems to me like it should have been part of the construction plan.

There's ALWAYS a way. You haven't provided enough info about the room (or gargae or whatever it is). Are walls drywall? Concrete? Ceiling drywall? Drop? Baseboards?

I was thinking this too, but he probably means the insulation got sprayed in...obviously without thought of future proofing any of the wire runs.
