Hi all.

I just spent $3000 for an LG DLP HD2+ 48" TV only to find the next day that it is only capable of handling a resolution of 1024x768 (when connected to a PC/HTPC). It does 1080i when watching TV, but what i really need is the PC capability.

i am so irritated. now i see why some of you guys are going nuts trying to wait for a samsung tv that may or may not come out (74 series).

anyway, what i'm looking for is a 1:1 pixel ratio when plugging in from a PC or HTPC. i will spend more time using the TV as a computer monitor than actually watching regular TV. I have a bunch of divx/xvid movies that (while already imperfect) would look worse if the picture was scaled.

so which DLPs have a 1:1 ratio at 1280x720 when connected to PC/HTPC?

I saw a portion of arun's website that said that certain samsungs with a 1:1 looked fantastic.

i'd like to know of other models that you guys think are good.

sugarkang - you've got me all depressed once again. I finally got a chance to see one of the LG HD2+ up here in Canada, and after a bit of tweaking got it to look every little bit as good as the Samsung sitting next to it.

Got home, was pumped, jumped onto AVS and read your post

I was initially pushed away from the Samsung cause of video lag, quality concerns, and the fact they feel the can charge more cause it says "Samsung".

But now you tell me the LG can only accept rez's up to 1024x768 - checked in the manual, and you're right. This is a huge screwup (AFAIC), why go to the trouble of designing a tv that is supposedly PC friendly and then pull this stunt?

This is a big concern for me, as I was planning on using this for my primary computer monitor as well.

Maybe I have to bite the bullet and go with the Sammy..........

Doesn't the LG is using the TI chip which has a native resolution of 1280x720?

If so why cant't you get your pc to output 1280X720 @60Hz to the LG over component or DVI interface? The current Nvidia and ATI drivers are both cabable of doing this.

EXACTLY my point when i bought the TV. or so i thought.

i'm actually in korea, and LG has a 48" with the HD2+ chip.

i think some of you guys were waiting for the HD2+ chip stateside, but don't worry about it because it doesn't freaking matter one bit with only 1024x768 resolution.

i'm thinking about buying an LCD now especially since everyone has been talking about video lag on the sammy, and supposedly gaming is perfect on the LCD, which is quite different from what i expected.

i wanna play doom3 on a big fat tv. SCARRRY

Funny... 5 years ago THEY were the underdog, now they seem to be showing a little pride.
