HELP! I think my LCD has burn in.

I am playing oblivion on my 360 and I see a very faint transparent line running vertical on the right half of the screen. I have a sharp aquos 42 inch tv. It does not seem to be going away and I just don't know what to do. It seems to appear no matter what I am watching or playing on my tv. Help!

bump It pisses me off every time I see this faint black line and it is still there since I posted this thread.
Damn it you guys are no help.
Take a couple deep breaths and relax first of all...........Sounds like you might have the infamous banding issue from Sharp. That sucks, OR your settings need adjusted and you just need to relax.
what is banding? I don't think this is banding. there is just one line on the right 3rd of the TV.
I'll be ok. I know it's tough, but take some time and read some of the forums, there might be a fix for it. But above all, be patient. You might need to do what I do when I get frustrated at my electronics... go do something else haha.
Yeah I was also under the impression they couldn't get burn in.

They can't get burn in. They can get temporary image retention.

But it sounds like you might have some actual bad pixels in your panel or a manufacturing defect.

Someone already posted a link with some helpful tips on fixing dead pixels, burn-in etc. Have you tried any of those solutions, tried changing settings, called for customer service?? Like stated above it won't burn in but does have image retention which should go away when another image comes up so that probably rules that out.
Depending on how long he has had the set, I wonder if it's possible that this is an aging effect showing up early.

Does the line correspond to anything that you regularly watch on the set?

Have you been leaving static images on the display?

How long have you had the set?

Is it possible that this has been there since you got the set, and it's only just now that you noticed it?

Is your set still under warranty?

Have you called Sharp? What did they say?

If you provide more information, versus get frustrated, you might get more help

You might want to check out one of the thousands of Sharp banding threads on this board. It's only the most discussed LCD problem over the last two years.

Eventhough there are very knowledgable people on these boards that may be the first place you need to look. Go right to the source. When calling them dont be rude but be assertive. Dont compromise with them. Get the answers that answer your questions and dont allow them to give you info that tricks you into thinking something that is abnormal is normal.
Dan7592, when you contact Sharp you should remember that:

1. LCDs are not supposed to suffer from burn-in

2. Even in you had the display on continuously for the year, the total time is around 9000 hours, which is well short of the times given for aging

It doesn't sound like you have done anything wrong, so as Urlacher5454 said treat the support folks at Sharp well. Remember that they have done nothing wrong and it is their job to try to help you.
