Hello Everyone,

I have made some poor decisions in my life and would like to have help with this one. I am looking at a DVD player with DVI/HDMI output for my Sony kde42xbr950 Plasma display.

I am looking at the:

Denon 3910

Pioneer Elite DV-59AVI

I am interested mainly in the quality of the picture and audio is a distant thought.

Any suggestions from people with this display or dvd players. I have been reading about both and find the Pioneer to have a lot less "bugs"

Thanks,

John

If you do not care about audio, save yourself some $$ and get the 2910 (pretty much the same PQ as the 3910).

I would not say you wasted your money. I am sure many if not most others do the same thing.

What it means is the signal path for DVI and analog are virtually identical. Any improvement you see with DVI will be the result of how Sony handles the various resolutions and differences in the analog components between the player and the plasma not whether the input is DVI or component. XBR Sony sets typically have very good electronics. I would focus more on the player than the connection. Hence my suggestion of a DVD-3800. I have very limited experience with that plasma so my recommendation is based more on generalities than specific experience. However, plasma is going to be very sensitive to the macro blocking problem. Some of the new Faroudja players seem to be cursed with this.
