Help Me Choose a Screen :)
Ok... I've been doing tons of research lately, and just bought most of the components for my HT this past weekend. These forums have been incredibly helpful! The only major pieces left are the screen and the seating.
Setup:
- Room: 11x19x9 room on the first floor with windows, but we're getting blackout curtains for the windows and doors so that we can completely control the lighting. Seats will likely be ~12' from the screen.
- Usage: Primarily DVD watching, some TV, eventually HDTV if there's ever a hockey season again
- Projector: BenQ PE7800 (Thank you, Jason Turk!)
- Screen Type: I'd like a ceiling mounted retractable because it will be in front of a (blacked-out) window. I'd like to be able to open the windows and curtains when the projector is not in use.
This whole thing has been rather a punch in the pocketbook, even though I got some fantastic deals on equipment, so I'm trying to be practical/frugal about the screen. I have read many of the screen reviews, including Tryg's awesome white/gray/silver tests, and while the SilverStar sounds amazing, its price is out of the question. Both the High Contrast Matte White and the Hi-Power look and sound ok... the HCMW is the current front runner.
Priorities:
1. size
2. smoothness (low likelihood of wrinkling)
3. gain/brightness

Please either reassure me that the Da-Lite Model C HCMW will be perfectly adequate for my needs, or recommend a similarly priced, better option
