I'm currently researching and considering the Pioneer VSX-1018AH-K 7 and the Onkyo 706. I have an Onkyo HTIB reciever that I like but want something that will do HDMI switching and the new BD audio formats. Which of these 2 would be the better bet? Any other suggestions in this general range are welcome. Thanks!

If you haven't already, try researching both the 1018/706 forums and see if either has any issues. I have the Pioneer elite sc05 and I prefer the way the mccac has eq'd my room better than other rcvrs I've tried.It took me over a year to finally buy something.


The Onkyo's in general seem to run very hot as others have mentioned on thses forums.

You could also look at Denon or Yamaha.


If possible, find a dealer that you can demo in home and pick the one that suits you.
