should i buy a new in box onkyo 706 or like new onkyo 805, the 805 is $25 more, thanks for any help.

The 805 has a great amp section - however it is now 2 steps behind the latest AVRs. I'd look at a refurbished RC180 over both of those options if the price is anywhere near the other two.

Thats some pretty good prices.

Tough choice - either a great amp section or a step down and one generation newer.

You aren't likely to get the RC180 for anything close.

For HT I'd go with the 706 - still new and it has preamp outs in case you need to add an external amp. And it has the factory warranty vs none for the 805?
