“Raw video all supported†is correct, but it is not required or advisable to disable all other video types.

I had issues with that suggestion when it was first posted.

Disabling the other video types will mean that FFDShow will no longer be available to act as a decoder for those video types, requiring you to install separate decoders for every type of video you want to play, like Xvid, DIVX, etc.

FFDShow is intended to be an all purpose video decoder for just about every type of compressed video available.

One of the video types you will need to disable is Mpeg2 because you don’t want FFDShow to act as the decoder for that. You should have installed a separate decoder for Mpeg2, like Dscaler, Nvidia etc.

FFDShow will still be available as a post processor for Mpeg2, as the output of your Mpeg decoder is “Raw†format.

ffdshow's libavcodec does a poor joob decoding XviD and DivX compared to the XviD codec. Anyone should do themself a favor and use the XviD codec for decoding mpeg4. Only use libavcodec for DivX 3, as the XviD codec has problems with some of those (DivX 3.11?).
