Help me start over

We sold our home last summer and with it went my theater room. I kept my equipment but now have it crammed into a small 13x12 ft fully enclosed room, aside from a door anyways... I'm going to sell my Def Tech speakers and want to get something much smaller but keep as much sound as possible. Right now i have bp9080x's ,cs9060, and a pair of sr9080's. The bp9080s just take up too much room and are entirely overkill for such a small room. What are some good options for replacement speakers that take up considerably less space, sound great, and fit inside a budget of say.... 2k for lcr and rear surrounds?

Emotiva T1+ C2+ B1+ for ~$1k, and put the rest towards subwoofers if you don't have them anymore.

Then just use the B1+ for your front mains instead of the previously suggested T1+ and downsize from the C2+ to the C1+ if you need to.

In a room like that, a single Hsu VTF-2 or SVS PB1000 Pro would be all you'd need for the sub.

If you want higher WAF, look into the RSL CG5/CG25 series which have the advantage of being front ported. Free return shipping is also very nice.

Are the SR980s too big to keep as surrounds, or do you want to match whatever brand you buy?
Would bookshelf speakers go on a shelf, stands, or do you prefer wall mounted?

More info about your needs. Quantity of speakers (5,7,9,11)? Size and form factor, by position? WAF concerns? Special requirements (bass head, bright speakers, volume levels)? Any music involved, or just movies? Receiver model?
Most Def Tech owners really enjoyed the large soundstage so KEF with their concentric drivers would be a nice move for those looking for more refinement while retaining wide dispersion.

Kef Q Series

Front L&R
Kef Q350 –$699.00 a pair

Center
Kef 650c –$699.00

L&R Surrounds
Kef Q150 – $399.99
To answer some questions.. I have 2 SVS PB3000's that I'll be keeping. The SR9080s are great but id like to have matching speakers. Im looking for 5 total speakers, LCR and RS's. I think id like to be able to wall mount the FL and FR speakers along with the rear surrounds. Center will go under tv on a stand. I do really like the sound I get from the def techs. The room is used 90% movies, the other 10% music, tv, gaming.
Also. WAF has no input on what i do in that room. Running everything with a denon x4500h at the moment.

No WAF needed and wall mounting FL/FR, 90% movies = I'd take a gander at the Ascend 200SE in that case. Sealed design, dual 4" woofers in an enclosure just a little bigger than most single 4" woofer bookshelves.

You can easily do them at all 5 positions if you believe in the "seamless soundstage via all identical speakers" theory or do 4 of them with an Emotiva C1+ under your TV.

Dual PB3000 in a room that small...the mind boggles! :)

? KEF tends to be narrower.

If wall-mounting is a strong desire, and I understand that in a small room, then:

5x Revel S16

Find a good Revel dealer and pay less than MSRP.

And let me make a recommendation.

If you do on-walls like this, pull the couch forward 3-4 feet. Situate it at about the 8-9-foot mark from the front wall. You will get MUCH better sound and bass there. Wall-mounting the fronts gives you the room to get that couch away from the back wall.

Then the B1+ x 4 all and C2+ (or C1+ if you are trying to save space).
Look at Totem Tribe on-wall speakers. Really good quality, can go loud, and can be black or white.

Two pairs of these: Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-160M (Ebony)
One of these: Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-450C (Ebony)
For $1147 total.
Chane A2.4 x3 for LCR, A4.5 for surrounds for $1096 before shipping: Chane A Series
Ascend Acoustics CMT-340SE for LCR/HTM-200SE for surrounds for $1216 shipped:
RSL CG25 for LCR, CG5 for surrounds for $1975:
A lot of great input. Thank you. Going thru each recommendation and comparing.

That is how I am setup now. My couch is 30 inches off the back wall and im right about 8ft to the screen. "screen is an 82" Q80" And you're right.... if i move a foot forward, or backwards the bass vanishes. I have the subs back to back between the couch and wall.

You might get even better bass if one of the subs is moved up front, taking advantage of the front/back placement.
