Even though the Mirage Omnisats v2 speakers sound good, I'm looking for an upgrade. The imaging I'm getting is good but I'm lacking in the mid-bass area and the highs (tweeter) could be smoother. I have a big room (4,000cf+) and a Yamaha receiver that is 120w per channel. The lows I have it covered with a big 15" DIY sub, up to 80hz-100hz. Anyways, I have a budget of $1,500 for the five speakers, (could go as high as $2,000). I don't want speakers that are too big (waf), must be efficient and look good. After doing some research, this are some options I'm liking;

1. Energy RC series, 50's w/center + surrounds, around $1,500

2. Ascend Acoustics, 340's and 170's, for around $1,000

3. Monitor Audio RS series, the RS6 fronts w/center + surrounds, $1,500

4. Infinity Primus, 362 w/350 and 152's, about $800

Please let me know what of the above choices would be better and what other options might work for me that are not listed above. Also, I would not have a problem getting some nice used speakers at Ebay or Audiogon, thanks.

Just a thought, but why not keep the V2's as surrounds so you can spend more on the front? I use V2's with different MFG speakers in front and it sounds great. I like that the V2's don't stick out of the wall. Along with opening your options to some nice looking cabinets, using the unobtrusive V2’s as surrounds might help with WAF.

Yes, I'm open to the suggestion of leaving the Omnisats v2 for surrounds and getting the three front speakers from another brand, that's were I plan to spend most of the money (the front three). My fronts are Omnisats v2 FS and v2 C for the center. If I do get a good price for all five speakers (same brand), I'm open for that option too (surrounds must be on the small side). I can use towers up front.

It won't change the highs, but have you considered getting one of these ? They don't have any at the moment, but I believe Hsu is introducing an improved version soon.

Also, I'd be surprised if the Yamaha actually put out 120 real watts on a test bench... Not sure if the Omnis can handle a lot of power anyway though.

I too like the idea of keeping your current speakers as surrounds, then upgrading your L/C/R's...And this is coming from a person with a pair of Walnut RS1's that I'd like to sell as surrounds if you went with a Monitor Audio RS setup.
