When I try to start DScaler it says: "No Suitable Hardware" and then it shuts down.

I´ve got a Radeon VE card and a Tochiba DVD. I´m using DVDGenie and ATI DVD Player 7.1

What is the problem?

Magnus: what capture card do you have? Also, what OS are you using?

I´m kind of a rookie when it comes t this.

Honestly I don´t know what a capture card is so perhaps that is the problem.

Otherwise I´m using Win 98.

Magnus: a capture card captures video from external sources, such as a VCR, LD, standalone DVD player, etc. If you are using something like WinDVD, the short answer is that you have little need for DScaler.

When DScaler says you don't have suitable hardware, it means you don't have a suitable capture card in your computer.

Good luck.

Should it matter if I´m using an internal or external DVD player for my HTPC? I still need to scale the signal for my projector don´t I?

In short, the graphics card does the scaling. If you are using an internal DVD-ROM player and WinDVD, this will utilize the graphics card to scale.

DScaler does the same thing. It does its magic on the video (that it has captured from an external source), but then passes it off to the video to the graphics card for scaling.
