I was informed today of a tiny purple object sticking out from the subwoofer sound hole. We have a Yamaha NS-P236 speaker setup (pictured below)

My wife extracted two tiny plastic toy balls from the subwoofer. One was rattling around inside the unit and one was protruding from the sound hole. Should I be concerned? Would she have possibly damaged the sub? I have not been home to test it yet but my wife thinks everything sounds the same.

My daughter did exactly the same thing, nothing like a black hole to stick items in.Finally solved it by making a cover to fit over the sub. Now everyone asks me how I get such great bass from 2 little Paradigm Atoms on the wall.

flip the sub on its back and stick a vacuum thru the port to suck up whatever you can. you may need to gyrate the sub a bit

tell your wife its ruined - replace with a sealed SubMersive. no more toys in the subs!

That may be the greatest answer ever. OP, just take the money out of your kid's college fund. I am sure you wife would understand!

^ actually, the kid did.

Man, it's moments like the above that make me regret not having any kids...yet.

Put the child in the sub, play WOTW and tell them "See?? This is how the toys feel when you put them in that hole Timmy!!"

Of course, I kid.

My kittens did that to my towers... I got some 1/4" screening (from work) and attached it over the ports with velcro. Surprisingly enough, it's held in place for almost a year so far...

I've had to pull out all kinds of small objects out of my sub - toy cars, plastic balls, magnetic letters, socks, marbles...
. Basically, just about anything my kids could stuff in the front port! Thankfully, they have grown out of this.

My best friend's two-year-old just did that last week. He got like five quarters in before he could be stopped.
