Recently had a STK392-040 IC (dynamic convergence) go on my 6PG.
Was able to swap out the C drive board, but have a few questions:
1: any internet sources (with cheap post) of the IC apart from trying NEC (UK)?
2:What exactly is the clear gunk on the thermal sheet - is it just
to keep it in place, or does it have thermal conductivity?
3: Before I swapped the board (IC had gone open circuit on one channel), I felt the underside of the chassis, which was hot around the F drive board area, but otherwise only warm. After swapping in the good C drive board the whole area is hot - too much to touch comfortably for long. I keep static convergence settings to below 20, but am not aware that other settings need to be kept that low. The PJ is set up as per service manual, and seems fine. I am aware that the "safe" temperature for semiconductors is hot by human standards, but I would still like to get maximum reliabilty. Any comments / tips?
TIA. Clive.
