ok so the world of projectors is well stupid.. simple question... is the hc3100 better than the hc1500.... the entire world of google cant find me any results.... so stupid.... i need an answer fast.... is the hc 3100 the better model and what would a used one be worth... answer fast i got an hour

It depends on your enviornment. If you can totally light control your room, then the 3100 is the superior projector. If you want to setup in a mixed use room and view with some ambient light, then the HC1500 would be a better choice because of the higher brightness.


It's strange that you mention the 3100, as it's a Euro only model. The HC3000 was the NA model, discontinued quite a while ago.

just on ebay... only 350 bucks with 40 minutes left... but even tho im in a light controlled room id like to have some light once in a while so i guess ill pass

Well, the hc3000/hc3100 can deal with some artifical ambient light, as long as it's not directed at the screen. If you want some significant ambient light, or have light coloured walls, then the 1500 /1600 would be a better choice.


It comes down to if you want a setup that can produce the best picture as far as contrast is concerned, or if you want a general purpose projector that can deal with a variety of ambient light situations.
