I am a DVB satellite HiDef enthusiast. My problem is I can't backup my recordings to my JVC30k. DVB transmits mpg's as an elementary stream MPG. I need to multiplex the MPG-2 stream into a TS (transport stream). I have tried every conceivable filtergraph combination of mpeg-2 muxers to do this. But I can't find a directshow filter that will mux the streams and assign PIDs etc.

DVHStool filters won't do this. Any mpeg experts out there know of a way to accomplish this? I found a standalone program, mpeg2vcr, that does exactly this, but I need a directshow filter to direclty record the stream to DVHStool.

Thanks!

Ok, here are a few sites to check out. I would personally suggest that you use the Leitch VR440 on a home 2Gbs Fiber Channel Network and do away with tape in favor of a Profile XP SAN with Raid protected shared mass storage. LOL ( I have one system with about 500Hrs of record time for one edit suite).

George,

Thanks, I had stumbled across some of those. It's good for professionals vs. hobbyists who don't want to plunk down $1k or so for HW/SW solutions. I was kinda hoping for cheap or "open source" solutions. I'm a bit surprised there are so FEW mpeg muxing tools around (but there are TONS of "demuxing" tools, mainly centered around the DVD ripping world! But I'm not interested in that, I need the exact opposite-- pushing ES or PS streams into TS streams.

Thanks

PS I do have an el-cheapo gig ethernet network in my home. 7 computers altogether. And the JVC30k is an el-cheapo way to archive HDTV and play it directly onto my 65" MITS.

Did you try MPEG2TS freeware?

DVB transmits transport streams. If you're not getting a transport stream out of your DVB receiver it's the "receiver's fault" that it demuxes the stream before handing it to you.

Are you sure it is elementary stream. I have Twinhan DVB card and that one records program stream using DVB Apps. HD cards play video but you will not get audio. I just use Elecard muxer to remux and it works fine going to JVC30K.

Which HD DVB streams have you been able to transfer to D-VHS this way?

In particular can you successfully record the ABC C-band feeds?

Leszek,

I didn't know that. MPEGID from Manzanita identifies my stream as elementary, even though it has audio and video in it! I am using progDVB to record, maybe prog is messing up the recordings somehow.

CKNA, if you can do that, al lot of people in DVB world would like to know how! my Hipix nor DVHStool will play audio nor video from my DVB streams. Can you post your filtergraph for me?

Thanks!
