I am now on my second attempt at building an HTPC. So far I have gotten it to appear well on my Mits HDTV using the HiDef input and going through my Pioneer Elite 49TX REceiver. I switch the PC, Dish HD and DirecTV HD through this receiver and it works well.

I find the best desktop for me is using Powerstrip and a 920x500 x 60 setting. My problem results in that when I start up a game (i.e. Combat Flight Sim 3 or Need for Speed 2), They will only start in a resolution that throws my tv out. I tried to tell Powerstrip that when they start to use the above resolution and refresh --- but it doesnt work. I have to go into the computer through Remote Destop to shut down the game and then log back in.

By the way I am usng the ATI 9700 pro.

Any ideas how I can force the computer to stay in the resolution and refresh I need it to be in when starting these or other games?

Thanks

Not all games support custom resolutions. Actually very few games do.

I run all my games including Flight Sim at 800X600 or 640x480.

I usually set up a hotkey to change the resolution just before the game starts.
