Today I bought a new Onkyo TX-SR706 receiver which has "all" the recent video upscaling formats.

I also have an "old" Panasonic DVD-RV80 DVD player. I'm not ready to buy a Blu-Ray player.

Will my new Onkyo receiver upscale videos played on my old Panasonic dvd player. Will the quality be on the same level as a "new" DVD player?

Will be watching on a new Mitsubishi WD-73736 which arrives Wednesday.

TIA

Yes. In fact your display will do this even without the receiver.

Yes, very close. Use the best video connection from the player to the receiver that you can. I believe that would be component on this player.

I posted the wrong player. My dvd player is a DVD-RV80, not RV30.

The DVD-RV80 player has a built in Dolby/DTS decoder.

And yes it has component outputs.
