I have just purchased a Toshiba 46HM84 HDTV which I should receive in a week. I have or will have the following equipment, help needed on how to hook the system up to maximize the HDTV capabilities

The cable company will deliver a HD cable box with both DVI and component cable hookup. I have ordered a HDMI to DVI cable to go from the cable box to the TV.

JVC XVN50BK DVD player

Panasonic PV8662 VCR

Yamaha HTR 5250 AV Receiver, it has no component hookups

Toshiba 46HM84 HDTV

Bose Speakers

I would to be able to have the sound come from either the TV or surround sound system, but will use the surround system most of the time.

Your suggestions on how to hook this up or a link to a web site that can give me ideas will be appreciated.

You'll want to run an optical or coaxal out cable from the STB to the receiver for 5.1 surround and L&R RCA audio out from the STB to the TV....then you can use either the TV's speakers or those connected to your receiver. DVD player video out to the TV and audio via optical/coaxal to the receiver. I'm not familiar with the inputs on your TV, but I'd use the DVI/HDMI out from the STB to TV, component out from the DVD to TV and somposite out from the VCR to the TV......all audio to the receiver. If your TV has three (or more) video imputs...you're all set.
