I'm helping my brother with his first home theater. Here's what I'm dealing with:

1) Sharp DLP Z10000; ceiling mount

2) He wants a screen size of 80-90"

3) Permanent wall mount; near the top of a 10' ceiling

4) Room is NOT light controlled; some diffuse light unavoidable

5) Seating is all dead on; no off axis viewing

Any thoughts on screen selection would be appreciated.

Thanks,

MiD

Based on that room a gray/black screen is probably ideal. If he is always going to be watching at night, then a white might also work.

I would stick with something with a positive gain though, like the Firehawk, HCCV or DNP Supernova.

Thanks for your reply Jason!

There will be day viewing; some light is unavoidable. My brother has seen my Firehawk and feels it's too washed out when we duplicate the ambiemt light in my theater. The little bit I've heard about the black screens tells me that what he may need. What will an 80" screen cost?
