I have never set up a media streaming system before can anyone advise on a set up that works well, if you were starting from sctrach what setup would you use ?
I currently have a 3d tv conected to a home cinema amp & would like to be able to play all my video and audio content which is stored on a HDD drive through this system
I would like to use a Synology ds415 play NAS device for both media content and to back up my pc but what would be the best media player and software to use to connect to this and my amp/tv ? I have films and audio in a variety of file formats, looking for high quality picture and sound reproduction.... Mede8er, chromcast, Dune, Minix...plex, kodi, my movies... etc
What works for you or what would you recommend I am a bit confused with all the different hardware & software that's available

Mede8er has been working flawlessly for me for years. I recommend it highly.

I recommend amazon's fireTV and plex. You'd need to install the plex server on your NAS. It will handle all formats and the plex interface is great.
