Help: No sound with pre-out to old receiver

I posted a question (link) a while back about using my old Denon S730H to power two channels that my MARANTZ SR7013.

I'm trying to pre-out from my SR7013 to my S730H to power my front R/L speakers, but I just can't get it to work.

Steps:
  • Marantz is configured to output Pre-out Front (image 1)
  • The audio pre-out FR/FL from the SR7013 is going to the audio in 1 CBL/SAT R/L on the S730H. (image 2)
- The front panel on the S730H is set to CBL/SAT DIRECT (I've tried pressing many many combos, but nothing produces sound)
- The speaker posts that I'm using on the S730H are the Front R/L

No sound... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Just to double check, try another cable. Also, make sure the input is on CBL/SAT on the Denon. I used to use my old Sony receiver the same way. I used to CD input with direct. I had to turn the volume on the Sony up to 75-80% to level match with the rest of the speakers. I used mine for rear Atmos.

Thanks @JamesS. for your suggestion! I didn't try a new cable until you mentioned it, but that's good troubleshooting practice. I am actually using these for rear Atmos as well, but had some photos when I got frustrated and tried to swap to the fronts to see if those would work.

I did solve this by going into the old Denon Input Assign settings. The CBL/SAT only had HDMI toggled on; Digital, Analog, Video were switched off. Turning Analog to on enabled the use of the CBL/SAT as an external amplifier.

I also had to crank my old receiver up to 72-80 to match the mains.
There is a lot of helpful information provided on the 2018 Marantz models in the first 7 posts of the 2018 Marantz AVR Owner's thread to include how to expand the SR7013 from 9CH ---> 11CH in post #7.
