Motorola HD DVR (DVI & Optical), I' going to talk to the cable company about getting the HDMI Scientific Atlantic box
XBOX 360
I'm going to continue using the dvd player for now, and see how the HD DVD XBOX 360 thing pans out since I do have a VGA port on my TV.
I'm going to be using the ascend acoustics speakers (340SE mains & center, HTM200 surrounds, and HSU 3 sub).
I'd like to keep the reciever
I'm looking at:
Denon 3806 & Yamaha 2600.
I'm leaning towards the Yamaha, jsut b/c of all the complaints about the set up being non-intuitive w/ the Denon.
I am looking for a receiver that has a good alibration procedure, b/c speaker placement is going to be a problem (wall mounts), and acoustically the room is kind of a nightmare.
I've also seen quite a few refurb H/K recievers on ebay, is there one of these that is in the same league as the Denon & Yamaha? I'm not opposed to saving a few $$$.
This system will be 90% movies, 10% music.
Pro's/Con's of these receivers? Other recomendations?
The Denon auto-setup and "room correction" works far better than the Yamaha's. If your room is an acoustical nightmare, fix the room. EQ isn't going to fix it.
I think I may have answered a few of my own questions, but I've come across a few more.
What version of HDMI do these (yama 2600 & denon 3806) support?
If I am understanding everything correctly as long as they are 1.1 or 1.2 when the Dolby True HD and DTS HD come out I will have to get a player that decodes the new formats, and then I will get the same benifits as having a 1.3 reciever that will decode them.
Is that right?
Still wondering about a delay function to sync audio & video as well.
