Well after 14 months of use, my Panasonic TH-50PZ800U gave me a quick flash of white and then a black 3" strip on the left side of screen. It was kind of weird, finished watching a DVD and saw this during credits.

I check all inputs HDMI 1-3, component input, and noticed black bar remains even with factory menu behind it.

Here are some pictures below. Anyone seen this happen, what do you think needs repaired or fixing? Anything I can do myself?

Thanks.

Well, at least its a deep black
. Kidding. I've never seen that. are you out of your warranty period? Get with Panasonic, I've read about people around here getting warranty service even if they are just out of their warranty period.

That could be a loose connection on that part of the panel, or a bad video board, or a bad panel. Contact Panasonic and see if they'll take care of it under "customer goodwill".

If you bought the TV with a good credit card that has the feature where they add one year of extra coverage to the manufacturer warranty, then your card provider will pick up the repair tab if Panasonic will not.

Well, I called Panasonic and they took care of the problem with a home visit and a complete replacement of the entire plasma panel. The installers swapped them out and told me that the problem was probably the video card for that section of screen.

Im happy now, as TV is ok. Thanks for the responses.

So did Panasonic pick up the tab even though the TV is two months out of warranty? If so, that's awesome !
