HELP: Pioneer Elite 55Txi and "Model ID Error"

1140 Views 18 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  avaholic
Okay I've only had this thing since August 24, 2003 from Josh and I got this message on the unit where your Processing normally states what mode it's on. I've shut it off and it seems to go away for a bit but then it came back again.

I just got done unplugging the unit and powering it back up and it seems fine but we'll see how long it lasts.

Anyone have this happen????

mmsean,

Have you tried doing a complete reset? Look in the manual and you should find how to do this.

Also, does it only happen with the Cable TV input? If so it might be a source or cable problem.

FWIW, I also got my 55TXi from Josh over a month ago, and NO problems.

Let us know what you find out.

Best of Luck,

Patrick

Okay I did the Tone+Standbyx3seconds. We'll see if this figures things out!

did u buy it from an authorized dealer? if u did, send it back for repair or even demand a new unit for replacement.

Good question that needs answered. Is the video also connected to the 55 on the Cable TV input??
Okay called Pioneer and they hadn't heard of the problem but they were going to get in touch with Japan and email me when they found out an answer.
Still no answer from Japan.
Lets, try this again. Does it only happen with the Cable TV input? Is the video also connected to the 55 on the Cable TV input?
Nope happens on all inputs. Nope no video hooked to the cable TV input.

This thing has been working for almost a month so this error is new though the setup has been working for a month.
What all do you have connected to the receiver?

If you unplug all connections do you still get the error?
It happens on the DVD input too. I haven't unplugged all connections because my feeling is that I should be able to have all connections present without an error.

I have he following connected:

Kenwood DV-5900M DVD Changer

Sony CX-875P DVD Changer

Audiotron MP3

Sony ES 333 CD Changer

Sony 34XBR800

Scientific Atlanta Cable Box

It's just a suggestion...

Seems if you don't try it you will likely have to unplug everything when you take it back for repair/refund.

Why not try now, see if you have a crossed connection/short in one connection or a component and save yourself the hastle.

Oh well. Good luck.

Well I'm waiting for Pioneer to get back with me. Josh hasn't replied for about a week now as I bought it from him. I'd like to see what they say first.
Okay I just got word from Pioneer Japan and they said the IEEE 394 module is bad and that I need to send it in for repair. Hmph. First Pioneer product I've ever bought and someone dis-enchanted after only 3 weeks.
Big thumbs up for Josh Lehman for going above and beyond the call of duty!!!

I take it he's sending you a new one! That's cool! I highly recommend him as well. I currently have the Elite 59AVi DVD player on preorder with him!

Again, Highly recommended.

I'm glad you are finally getting this resolved! Now sit down and enjoy your 55TXi ;)

Best Regards,

Patrick
