Hi,

I have a standard dvd player and am using an audio digital optical out cable into my Pio receiver.

In the dvd menu's audio setup, I have a choice of

PCM only

Dolby Digital /PCM

Stream/PCM

I would assume the Dolby Digital /PCM setting is the setting (since the receiver has all the bells and whistles) I would want for 5.1 surround and to use all of the formats. Is this correct? If I just choose PCM does that mean the signal cannot be processed by the receiver for the digital formats of DD, etc? I am confused. (The manual is very limited)

Thx

Vito

Hi,

...are you saying "Stream/PCM is the best choice?

Thx

Yes thats what he means by bitstream. Its a non decoded signal and the receiver will decode it. So say if the soundtrack is Dolby it would decode it so, if it is DTS and your receiver decoded DTS then the receiver will decide.
