Hey,

Just got this receiver today for my birthday. Researched it hard and thought I would love it. Got it home, hooked it all up and there is no sound from any of my HDMI devices. My Playstation 3 says "This HDMI device cannot be used for audio output." My Motorola DVR and my HD-DVD player have no audio, but give no error. I'm wondering if it's because my Sony KF-50WE610 has a DVI input and I'm using an HDMI-to-DVI Cable. I had an Onkyo for a week earlier this year, it worked fine, but I had to return it for financial reasons. Anythoughts. Can anyone save my bacon here?

Thanks.

I have this receiver. For each component you have to tell the receiver which input you're using (HDMI / Digital / Analog). I'm at work and don't remember exactly how I did it but I think its the 'Signal Sel' key on the remote. Make sure the remote is in 'Receiver' mode to do this. Pressing that key will cycle through the options.

Hope this helps!

Will this selector enable someone to change the audio from HDMI to a Flash Drive connected to the USB port while watching TV?

I'm looking for a way to display a PS3 or DTV on the screen and play back audio from other sources. Primarily a Flash Drive or ipod. (or an analog input like cd)

Thanks

Your sony does not have hdmi input? I believe you need to hook up an audio cable to each component for audio. Optical or rca audio cables. HDMI only passes video not audio. I know it should but through the receiver it doesn't.

People are confusing you maybe. First off, the VSX-819H-K seems to playback HDMI audio. If it didn't, it would not have lossless decoders!

AND it says HDMI 1.3 repeater.

So your PS3 should work as long as you hooked the PS3 up with HDMI.

The DVI cable could cause problems, maybe. One thing to check is to make sure HDMI audio out to the TV is turned off.

This explains what to do to hear HDMI audio from your TV. So don't do this -

" Set the HDMI parameter in Setting the Audio options on page38 to THRU (THROUGH) and set the input signal in Choosing

the input signal on page40 to HDMI, if you want to hear HDMI audio output from your TV or flat panel TV (no sound will be

heard from this receiver)."

Some people have had problems with HDMI to DVI.
