I've had this problem since day one that there is a purplish area in the upper left portion of my screen. It is really bothering of late since I have begun surfing the web on it, all those white backgrounds in Internet Explorer are really letting this purple show.

I have looked inside the lens from the front, and can see what almost appears to be an ink smear inside the lens.

It doesn't seem to be from dust, like I said it's been there since I first turned it on.

Anyone else have this problem? Solutions/suggestions?

I think that you should return it for warranty service. What you think may be the problem may not indeed be the problem. This is too good of a projector to not have working as it was designed to do.

Could this be self-serviceable? I really don't want to part with my baby. I don't want some service tech to screw something else up when playing with my lens.
