I just purchased a Sony Bravia KDL-40S4100. When I pulled it out of the box and set it up, I connected my PS3 and Cable/DVR (both through component cables). I turned it on and it began flashing the following color sequence:
White-Red-Green-Blue
over and over again. If I switch the input to an active input, or switch the wide screen mode, it will show the input for 2-3 seconds and then begin flashing again. I contacted the Sony online support guys and they just told me to unplug stuff in a random sequence to see if it worked ("try unplugging the PS3, do you still have the issue?", "now the cable", etc)...when I got tired of that, I asked if the colors were indicative of anything and the support person stated that this means there is a power issue. However, this seems a bit unlikely to me...wouldn't the television just turn off or never show and image to begin with...seems counterproductive to tell me there is a power issue in the same way an image would show (meaning it's obviously working) instead of, say, a blinking "standby" light. So I googled around and the best conclusion I can come up with is that the system went into a "test pattern" mode for some reason. Does anyone know if this is the case and/or do they know how I could bring up the service menu in this specific model?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
