I currently have a 7.1 speaker setup but I'd like to upgrade and get the Sony Dolby Atmos speakers ..where would I place them? my front speakers are behind those red curtains so it's not possible to put them on top of the fronts ( I could of I placed the fronts in front of the red curtains ) or should I place them on the ceiling above the red curtains? Any other ideas

The best place for Atmos Enabled speakers is anywhere but in a Home Theatre - unless you have no other option.
You already have 2 speakers on the ceiling perfectly placed for Front Atmos speakers in a 4 Atmos setup. Do you have a matching pair in the rear ?
If they are your surrounds then you have to lower them to ear level to make Atmos work, no matter what sort of Atmos speaker you use.
Also do you have an Atmos capable AVR ?
And your L&R speakers will sound better out from behind those curtains.
Yes I have a pioneer vsx 834 receiver.. those front speakers on the ceiling are my front height speakers I have two speakers in the rear for rear surrounds they are not Dolby Atmos speakers.. are you saying I should lower those front ones to your ear level and point them up?
No - use those front ones as Atmos speakers - that is the perfect location - and use other speakers for surrounds at ear level.
Are your rear surrounds up high as well ? If so they are also perfect for rear Atmos and not so good as rear surrounds in an Atmos setup - you want all your ear level speakers ( LCR and surrounds) to be at ear level.
I just checked on the Pioneer AVR ( I think I have the same unit in my lounge room !!) and it is only capable of 5.2.2
So assuming your rear surrounds are at ear level then you don't have to do anything except swap the speaker cables in the AVR - surround become height and surround back become surround. Then configure the AVR as 5.2.2 and you have an instant Atmos setup.

If your rears are up high then it would be best to lower them but if you can't then just enjoy Atmos with them up high - it won't be ideal but will still work.
Yes my yes my rear speakers are up high as well I cannot lower them.. so you're saying swap the cable in AVR is so those speakers in the ceiling that are high will become my surrounds? And my rear speakers will be height (rear height speakers)?
So I will not need Dolby at most speakers then I can just use what I have
No - the height speakers in the photo will become your 2 Atmos speakers and your rear surrounds will be your surrounds. Not ideal but should still sound pretty good since I am assuming your rear speakers are a fair way behind your front row and therefore well separated from what will be your Atmos speakers.
Actually that's the way I have it set up already my speakers in the back are my surrounds and those two that are in the ceiling are my front height speakers.. I was just going to buy the Dolby Atmos speakers and replace them with those ones I have now in the front ceiling... Or would that just be a waste of money

OK so you have it set up as I described already :)
Swapping on-ceiling mounted bookshelf speakers aimed directly at the listeners (the best option for Atmos) for Atmos enabled speakers that bounce sound off the ceiling (the worst possible option for Atmos) just might be a waste of money.................................
