Help w/Optoma H79 DVI

384 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  chengka
I was left hanging after the install of my H79, but love it so far. The problem I have is that I have it connected with DVI direct from the DirecTV receiver, and also want composite connections from my Onkyo receiver. Anytime the DVI is plugged into the H79, DirecTV works great, but I cannot access any composite inputs. If the DVI is unplugged, the composite feeds work great.

Based on the experience I have seen posted, this is probably an insignificant issue for the experience in this group, but a real problem for someone as new as I am to this. Thanks a lot for any help.

In the System menu check source lock. Next time you go to component RGB/cables, you did mean component/ composite is a one cable yellow type feed which isn't recomended, just use the direct component button on the remote and it should lock up in 15secs or so.
Of course you wre absolutely correct when you said component, not composite. This seems to fix the problem nicely. Thanks a lot for your help. One other question I found when looking into this in another post involves the menu where you tell it the you have component and dvi cables and set the resolution to 720p. I remember seeing that the first time the pj turned on, but can't get back to it to see if I set it correctly. In the post I referred to, it seemed you needed to turn off all connected "boxes" and restart the pj. I did this and still could not get to such a menu. Any thoughts? Thanks again for all of your help. Wish I could ue your services, but that would be quite a trip to Virginia!!
Hmmm. The only option I know if is the Format option. NATIVE is the best setting for Format if you are sending it 720p. Using NATIVE will bypass any scaling in the projector.

There is a Format button on the remote and it's also available in the Display section of the menus.

good luck
