I am a bit ignorant in this department, I'm getting (Ordered) a panny plasma the "consumer" model pt42pd-3 . From my understanding it does not have the DVI input What would i use it for MY SAT and VCR would go s-video, my DVD component and later HDTV on component Correct ? Am I missing something? Help me understand this as I can Still get another set. Thanks in advance

It's for:

1. PC / HTPC - a high end PC today can come equipt with a DVI port, so you can hook it up to your plasma without any loss due to analog conversions.

2. Assuming the HDCP mess gets cleared up, you're supposed to (theoretically!!!) get HD content through it with future STBs. Of course, there's no way the HDCP will get cleared up anytime soon, so it's likely to be irrelevant.

3. You can get a scaler that can feed you DVI into your plasma. KeyDigital LEEZA is the only one I'm aware of that's actively doing this, but Rock+ and Faroudja NRS+DVD are also potentially in this field.
