I have pretty much decided to purchase the Pioneer 45 receiver. When showing the wife the unit, she said "the display on the dvd player and this receiver are not the same". Can any one give me some leads for a dvd player with the same "color" display as the Pioneer receiver? Other than the Pioneer 45A dvd player that gets some fairly harsh treatment on this board. Preferably progressive scan, without the chroma bug.

Yes, she wants the display on the receiver to match the dvd player. So now I need to try to find a dvd player that has close to the same color display as the Pioneer.

I don't know what color the Pineer is, but the JVC XVSA600 is a nice blue that is readable from 8 feet away where I sit. Can be dimmed or turned off and is very nice.

Unsure why that should matter. Is it aesthetics? What about the rest of the player that isn't lit? All of the units have a bit different physical appearance. I have a Denon receiver, Yamaha CD changer, and JVC DVD player all in a nice seperated stack and it looks very good, even thogh all have a very different display.

My wife will only buy beer in brown bottles. Green bottles clash with the decor! ;)

I can live with that...

maybe a piece of window tint applied to the exterior of the display, dims them both down so the difference will not be too much.

Isn't your wife being a bit unreasonable by raising a stink about something so insignificant?

Sheesh. This is the sorta thing that makes me afraid to get married, sometimes....

Get a cabinet with smoked glass. Don't choose your components based on color of display. Ask her if she chooses her shoes or handbags based on color alone, that will get her attention.

Get the cheapest and worst picture dvd player that matches the display. Then after she stops staring at the dvd display and watches the movie she will ask, "How come the movie looks so bad? All those wierd rainbow stuff and jaggedy thing, whats with that?" Just respond, "Who cares, the display on the DVD is the same color as the reciever, I've just been staring at that for 2 hours instead of the movie!"

EricD: "Hi, honey. I'm home... Where the player go?? And the TV?? And my DVDs???"

Wifey: "Oh, I donated them all to the Salvation Army, and bought some nice new clothes, couple handbags and a few pairs of shoes since we can get a nice tax deduction. Had to charge the extra $$$ on your plastic..."

I'm a bit in the same boat. I'm only allowed to get SACD if harman/kardon

makes one...:( She loves the design.

And they probably won't.

Brown bottles are the best thing for beer, green bottles allow the beer to get "skunky" easier sitting in the lights from the super market. That's why you don't find green bottles for homebrewer's to bottle with, only brown.

Your wife is doing the right thing... but don't tell her that.
