I've got a 5040 unit with an Ethernet problem.

When I connect up ethernet to the RTV, the green lights light up and even blink a little, but it can not see the network. It won't grab a DHCP address, or take a manual address. I normally have it with a static IP, and I could not ping it, even connected direct with a crossover cable.

I searched the forum, and from what I can tell, the network lights don't normally light if the Ethernet jock is bad. Is this true?

Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Sure, I can go back to dial up, but I've become accustom to streaming between my 5000 units. Any suggestions? Is my port dead?

I would unplug all the cables going into the Replay and do a hard reboot. If that doesn't help, the unit may very well have a bad NIC.

Make sure you do the basics like connecting the replaytv directly to the cable modem after rebooting them both. Doing so cuts out a lot of problems that can happen in the router. If you can contact the mother ship that way you know the problem probably lies in router settings.
