I plan to set a home theater system pretty soon, I would like to get advice on good 7.1 speakers preferably one I can get in box. My preference is a 7.1 ch speaker system. I could not find 7.1 speakers in the box other than from Onkyo. I would like to know if any of these packages are good.

Onkyo SKS-HT870/SKS-HT750/SKS-HT540

Are there better 7.1 speaker packages available?

Whats your receiver?

Onkyo 7.1 speaker sets are bottom of the barrel low in quality.

Whats your budget for speakers?

Whats the size of your room?

What is the positioning of furniture in your room? (Couch against the wall facing TV?)

I am willing to spend upto $700-800 for the speakers. I don't want a high end HT unit, that's why the limited budget. I am looking at Yamaha RX-A700/RX-V667 & Denon AVR's. The couch is facing the tv but its not against the wall.

Stick with 5.1 and you'll be very happy with this setup.

Could suggest a 7.1 set up with Polk speakers. Is it possible to make a 7.1 set up with the Infinity speakers you mentioned. I also saw a package deal at newegg which had Polk Audio RM 75; 5.1 speakers with Yamaha RX-V667. Are those speakers good?
