I have an mini DV camcorder, a JVC GR-DV70US, that I've owned for about 3 years, but just recently got some good use out of it. It's been used on and off for about 2.5 years, but within the last half year, I've been using it a lot for a project. Lately I got a few "condensation error" messages, but the thing is I've taken this camera out on sunny dry days within the past 2 weeks and got that waring two times. I've taken it out on days just as bad before and never gotten this message. I was wondering if I should take it in for repairs or not? Also, even if it is just the weather messing with the camera, is it possible to get an electronics store to just do a general tune-up? I don't know a lot about cameras and want to make sure this thing is running in tip-top shape. How much do suspect it would cost to do either of these things, fix the condensation or just do a general tune-up?

Also, remember, I'm not very experienced with this stuff. So please answer as if I knew none the terms you may refer to. Haha

There were a ton of complaints a few years back regarding (I believe) condensation and erroneous "lens cap" errors. There may even have been a class action suit against JVC for this. If your model is one affected and the problem is the same, I think JVC may fix it for free. Then again, since you have it 3 years there may be a limitation there. You might try searching (google, etc) on those terms to see what you can find out. Here's one I found after a quick search....

JVC GR-D90U Condensation Error

FWIW I have a JVC MiniDV Camcorder as well but my model does not have either of these problems. However it did fail on me (pinch roller broke) and I did have it replaced by JVC factory support. Given the fact it ended up costing me nearly as much as a new one and the MiniDV tape format is considered by many to be obsolete, I'm not sure it repairing it makes the most sense.

EDIT: It looks like your model is one that JVC has recognised to have this problem. Click on the link for GR-D70US...

It appears the JVC will fix it at no cost
