I just received a BenQ 8220 projector. While it is great in a lot of respects, I just can't get it to focus perfectly. I can get awfully close, but not perfect. It is just a little bit off; just enough to make you complain about it.
If it matters, I have a 100" diagonal screen, the projector is ceiling mounted 12' away on an 8' tall ceiling, and my seats are also 12' from the screen. I can't move the seats or the projector back any more. The projector's manual says that the 12' throw distance is perfect for this size screen.
Any thoughts? Are all digital projectors slightly off in focus? Is it a DLP projector issue?
Oh, and before anyone asks, yes, I have manipulated the two focus rings, and I have tried the auto focus option on the projector. I still can't get it to focus any better than it is.
How about using binoculars and bring up a menu screen. Get a clear look at the pixels to sharpen focus. Sharpness is a good suggestion, use avia's sharpness pattern to clear out the ghost but if the image looks a little dull bring the sharpness back up a little till the on screen pattern looks crisp.
