Help with HSU sub choice for a 2k cuft room

Eventually I'm going to end up with the below system (possibly different pre/pro/amp). With the HSU sale this weekend I'm trying to decide between dual VTF-2 and 3 Mk5's so I can place my order soon. They have similar frequency capabilities and I know the output of the 15's is higher but would there be much of a difference for an 18x13x8 room? There's about a $500 difference which is why I'm asking.

Unless you recommend something other than HSU for close to $1500 or less?

I'd go with the VTF3 over the 2 if you can afford them. Buy once, cry once, as they say, and you'll be sure to have enough bass on tap.

I would rethink your sub positioning though, generally it'll be likely to sound better with one sub in front and one in the back on the other side.

thats my opinion as well, once I get them in the room I'll be moving them around to the different ideal locations to see what "feels" the best in my setting. Might even order a mic too for REW but not sure yet.
How would you compare dual PB-3000’s to VTF-3’s?

+1

It's seems like the OP is building quite a nice system so it would be a shame to compromise on the subs. Get the best you can afford.

Just guessing but probably pretty similar to around 40hz where the VTF-3s would have an advantage in maximum output and headroom. Also they're about half the price.
I would also go with the VTF-3, but not sure you need three of them. By that diagram/layout it has the front towers stuck in the corners, which is not good placement. Also, any particular reason you plan to use tower speakers as rear surrounds? Those should be around 2' above ear level and obviously that ain't happening with those floor speakers unless you plan to put them on some sort of riser to lift them. Better option and cheaper would be some on-wall or in-wall surround speakers.

Ended up ordering 2 of the VTF-3's, almost bit the bullet and bumped up to the 15H's, not sure where you got 3 subs. Reason I push my L/R's so far out is cause I kinda screwed myself by getting a 150" projector screen with only space for the towers...
