Hello...
My problem:
3.1 or 2.1?
I looked at Focal Aria 926 and 836.
And Triangle Lyrr.
Wondering about getting one of those and maybe a new sub and center and Avr.
or just avr, and The fronts.... I dont know... 5.1 isnt a option.
I have a infinity tss-4000 sub. Maybe i could use that one.. Hmm... Cheaper than getting a new one...

While your sub doesn't play especially low it has reasonably flat frequency response within its working range.

"The TSS-SUB4000's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 37 Hz and the –6dB point is at 30 Hz."

If you have one or two seating positions close together and the speakers aren't too far apart 2.1 can work well otherwise 3.1 makes more sense.

What AVR and speakers if any are you currently using?
Have you listened to any speakers recently?
Do you like a more lively forward sound or more mellow and laid back?
Mostly music? Movies? Both?
Distance from the speakers/screen?

3 meters from speakers.
Now i have infinity primus. A broken h/k reciever...
60/40% film/music.
I like heavy sound. But mot klipsch.
Checking out pioneer sc-lx801 as reciever. Seems fitting for any thing..
If by "heavy" sound you mean bass-dominant, the key will be upgrading your sub...even getting a pair of better ones.

Are there specific things about your current Primus speakers that you wish to improve, aside from extra bass? If not, I'd keep them and focus on the sub(s).

How big is the space? Are there open adjacent rooms or is it totally enclosed?

Not totally enclosed.
The speakers are old a d i sold some of the.m... Want something new for the next 10-15 years :)
Open adjacent rooms = you have to add the combined cubic feet when calculating how much subwoofer to get.

What's your max budget for the whole shebang, sub(s) plus 2-3 speakers? We need a ballpark number to give useful recs.

Well... Thinking about monitor audio silver 500 with center and sub
Have often heard good things about the MA Silver series.

However, I would get the sub from a subwoofer specialist company like Hsu, Rythmike, Monolith, PSA, etc.

Speaker companies very rarely make anything but overpriced and underperforming subs.

And make sure the MA center is up to snuff, i.e. is 100% satisfactory to your ears since the center does 70-90% of the HT output, and some speaker companies half-ass their centers on the assumption (usually correct, sadly enough) that most consumers will automatically choose the "matching" center to whatever stereo pair they hear and like most in a store.
