I have a VIZIO VX32L tv. The tv looks washed out with very light colors and almost no black. The tv overall picture is way to bright. I adjusted contrast and brightness to every range and nothing. Even set factory defaults. ??? Any ideas on whats going on? Also I adjust backlight of the tv, no effect either. Help

Setup menu for home and store. Where is that located? The backlight works but only makes the picture more white. I have basically no blacks and colors are very light. I am out of warranty so need help on a fix.

The home store mode choice is only displayed the first time set is turned on. I supect that you are using "store" mode which uses the Vivid progam mode. You need to select another progam mode such as standard and with a backlighing setting of about 50% use brightness for amount of lighting you like and contast for the amount of darkness you like, Your user manual has details on how to do this.

How long have you had this tv? Was it like this from day one or is this a problem that developed recently?

The problem occured about 2 weeks ago. I have the backlight at 50% contrast 50% and brightness 40%. Even if I put the brightness, contrast and backlight almost 0% the screen still is bright. Seems the settings only make it brighter. The menu & picture both highly washed by backlight. Will post pic today.

ANyone know how to open service menu?

Have you tried a hard reboot--unplug the set, wait 10 min. and replug and restart. If that doesn't work it sounds like you need service on the set.

I have tried a hard reset also. This is the tv on 50% backlight but looks almost the same on 0% backlight. Like I said before the contrast nor brightness help bt to only make it brighter. I am aware it needs service but looking for help on what could be causing this. ??? Anyone have ideas?

Any idea on what could cause this? Which board it could be? It seems that way that the settings are stuck and only go more. Sometimes when I play around with the contrast it will blip to darker picture as it should but goes right back to super bright 1 sec after. Leads me to believe that something keeps resetting the brightness, backlight, and contrast. All settings look 100% but are actually on 50%

Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this? Anyone?? I know a dim picture would definetly be the backlight but a too bright picture? I am baffled about this. I have found 1 other post of someone with this problem same tv and no answers. It seems the contrast has no or barely any effect when changed. The backlight and brightness only make it brighter. Someone help!!

something has broken inside the TV, most likely the mainboard because what that looks like is having the brightness control jacked up way beyond maximum

try searching for a replacement mainboard on the net if you can find one for under 100 bux its worth a shot replacing it but if not then get a new TV it will be cheaper than paying someone to attempt to fix it and most repairmen will not fix Vizio's because Vizio does not provide replacement parts for them.

I have found the boards. I found a mainboard and a powerboard. You think maybe this could be the power suppy board? I'm shooting 50/50 on what board this could be. It does seem that the colors and blacks might not be receiving enough power or maybe Icould be wrong.

It could be the mainboard controls are fried.

I'm gonna check out the mainboard for any inperfections like blown caps. I will let you know. thanks

its not the power supply.

the power supply has no effect on the picture besides making it work, if it was defective you TV would turn on and back off, be hard to turn on or not turn on at all.

Thanks frito, I'm gonna buy the mainboard and give it a shot. Mainboard goes for $185 which isn't that bad. Its cheaper than buying a new 32" lcd. thanks again will post reply when I install.
