A few months ago, my Dad's Vizio started getting pixelated.

Then, the tell-tale horizontal lines on the screen.

Then, it developed vertical lines.

Then, the picture just vanished (but the sound works fine, not that it matters) showing a grey screen.

The TV hasn't been dropped or damaged; the picture just went out.

What was left was a thin few rows of pixels of the picture at the very top of the screen.

So, Dad wanted me to find out if it was worth fixing. He just loves the set.

My friend suggested replacing the video board; I've found the exact ones I need for around $70.

Is it worth fixing, or should he just replace it? Is the problem the video board, or something else?

$70 is not too much to spend if you are comfortable with replacing the board, if it's the video board and not something else. You probably didn't get a lot of responses because some consider Vizios "throwaway" sets. They're just not worth repairing a lot of times because of quality issues and you're better off with a new set, and an extended warranty.
